This review provides an overview of progress, problems, and future trends in applications of vanadium-based oxides on Li/Na-ion batteries, focusing mainly on the aspect from low-dimensional nanomaterials to 3D micro/nano-structures and free-standing-electrodes. A facile strategy to synthesize 3D vanadiumbased oxides micro/nano-structures and a solution to address future practical application issues of vanadium oxides cathode materials are presented.
